The American state of Wisconsin, which is famous for its cheese and beer, is situated in the north-central region of the country and is considered to be a part of the
Midwest. The state lies between Lake Michigan in the east and Lake Superior to its north. The capital city is Madison, and the largest is Milwaukee. Other popular cities include
Appleton, Green Bay, Eau Claire, Kenosha, Janesville, La Crosse, Racine, and Oshkosh. The climate is humid continental and can reach extreme highs and lows.
Wisconsin is the 23rd-largest state in America by size and the20th by population as it’s home to about six million residents. It was the 30th state to join the Union when
it was admitted back in 1848. The region is filled with rolling plains and cattle which is why it’s so famous for its dairy production. Milwaukee, on the other hand, is famous for its
many breweries.
Because it’s located between the Mississippi River and the Great Lakes, Wisconsin has many diverse terrains such as coniferous
forests, glacial lakes, sandstone formations, rich farmland, lowlands, ridges, bluffs, and rivers. There are many outdoor areas to enjoy with some of the most popular ones being
Apostle Islands National Lakeshore, the Ice Age National Scenic Trail, the North Country National Scenic Trail, the Saint Croix National Scenic Riverway, and the Chequamegon-Nicolet
National Forest.
There are quite a lot of resorts in the northern area of the state as well as family attractions located in the Wisconsin Dells region. Some of the hot spots are the
House on the Rock and Circus World Museum. Other interesting locations are the Milwaukee Art Museum, the Milwaukee County Zoological Gardens, Vilas Zoo, the Olbrich Gardens
Conservatory, and Monona Terrace.
Water sports are very popular due to the many rivers and lakes in Wisconsin. The area known as Door Peninsula is home to Door County, which features many natural
harbors, ports, and bays, making it an ideal spot for boating enthusiasts. There are also many quaint villages in the area.
Celebrations are plentiful throughout the year with several ethnic festivals being held. Some of these are Oktoberfest, Festa Italiana, German Fest, Irish Fest,
Norwegian Constitution Day, Bastille Days, Cheese Days, the African World Festival, Arab Fest, and Indian Summer. Music festivals are also popular, including Country Fest, the Hodag
Country Festival, the Porterfield Country Music Festival, Log Jam Fest, Country Thunder USA, Summerfest, Milwaukee Metalfest, and Country USA.
Driving to and around the state is pretty easy because of the fine road system and it gives you a good chance to see the wonderful sights and scenery. If you’re flying,
the major airports are in Milwaukee and Green Bay, with several regional ones throughout the state. If you love to ride the rails there are two Amtrak train routes in Wisconsin.
For sports lovers, Wisconsin features the Green Bay Packers NFL football team, the Milwaukee Bucks NBA basketball club, and the Milwaukee Brewers MLB baseball
franchise. Wisconsin also has minor-league pro teams in baseball, hockey, and arena football. College sports are also big as are motorsports, and bicycle racing.
There’s no problem finding nice places to stay, especially in Milwaukee and the accommodations are fit to suit all travel budgets. There are also all types of
restaurants which serve up local dishes as well as international cuisine.
Wisconsin is a lovely state with plenty of activities to keep everybody busy. It offers cosmopolitan cities, rural towns, and quaint villages and is an ideal area to
